Formerly an art teacher, Annie Rodrigue now entirely dedicates herself to her career as a painter. She sets forth expressive and original abstract contemporary works of arts which point out in a very special way her authenticity and creative impulse. To Annie, painting has been a way of expressing what she could say with words, thus freeing herself from some inner agitations; creating has become a necessary way of life. Therefore, art becomes a liberator through the instinctive and expressive gesture.
To create depth on the canvas, Annie tries new techniques, such as scraping, overlapping, and washing out paint. Drippings, wash drawings, printing with objects, and scribbling are also preliminary researches that rapidly became her style. But she always have in mind her main objective, to create a variety of feelings by expressing emotions and by capitalizing on a balanced composition, enhanced with light and transparency; Annie’s work is colorful, spontaneous and dynamic.
The rhythmical nuances that catch the light and the depth found by black areas give the impression that a dialogue is taking place between the spectator and the paintings they are looking at. Annie is constantly discovering herself through the essence of her paintings and she even surprises herself in improving her personality as well as technique.
