Mark was born in and raised in Blaine, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. Mark moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to pursue his education as a welder. He has over 9 years of professional welding and metal fabrication experience.
Mark’s passion for art called him back to college to pursue sculpture and functional art. Mark received his BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. His work carries notions of environmental issues, sustainability, and infrastructure. Mark enjoys manipulating variable materials through investigation and processes, but he is most fond of the metal working process. He uses abstraction to push the limits of object making.
Mark has exhibited work around the Midwest and has received scholarships to OX-Bow School of Art and Peters Valley School of Craft. Mark also was awarded the 2014 Excellence Award in Sculpture and Functional Art from Kendall.
