Born into a large German family, Brigitte first traveled to and lived in England, then immigrated to the US, eventually settling in Chicago where she lives and paints today. While always loving art, she put it aside to raise her family before starting her new career as artist. She studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, The Noyes Center, Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, and the Evanston Art Center.
In her early training, Brigitte focused on a study of the old Masters. Recently her works have become more abstract. She is exhilarated by the challenge of evoking ideas in the viewer from forms that escape from her fingers. “Just a brushstroke on the canvas gives me the freedom to do anything I envision: there are no limits other than the dimensions of the canvas itself,” says Brigitte. She enjoys exploring the canvas, plumbing its depth and dimensions to create a piece that challenges the intellect, invites curiosity, and creates pleasure.
Brigitte’s works can be found in galleries and private collections across the United States and Europe.
